The Pioneer 5 Miles Run is part of the Tennessee State Park Running tour. This is the 46th year of the State Parks Running Tour, the longest state parks running series in the U.S. It consists of 20 road races, with distances varying from 5K to 13 miles. All races are held on Saturdays from October to March at 11 AM local time in 20 different State Parks, located from Memphis to Kingsport.
These events are sponsored by local running clubs, which are responsible for registration, timing and results. The State Parks provide facilities, race security and traffic control. Walkers are welcome and allowed an early start at 10AM (slower than 13 minutes per mile). They are recorded as runners in the results.

Grand Prix
We have a Grand Prix points system, where accumulated points determine the new male and female Running Tour Champion in each of seven age categories: Youth(age 0-19), Open(age 20-39), Masters(age 40-49), Grand Masters(age 50-59), Senior Grand Masters(age 60-69), and Veterans(age 70-79), Over Eighty(age 80+) . Everyone who participates in 5 races or more will receive a special award at the Grand Prix Awards Banquet on March 3, 2024. In addition, those who run 10 or more races will receive an extra award.
Entry Fees
Entry fee for the race is $17. If you wish to order a race t-shirt (long sleeve), the entry fee will be $32. The last day to register for the t-shirt option will be two weeks prior to the race. The entry fee starting two weeks prior to the race increases to $22 (no shirt). The race day entry fee (no shirt) is $30.
Walker Early Start
Walkers are welcome and are allowed an early start at 10 AM. Only walkers slower than 13 minutes per mile, please. They are treated as runners in the results.
